VERSE OF THE WEEK
“The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine through the land—not a famine of food or a thirst for water but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord.” – Amos 8:11
Feed on God’s Word
As people grow concerned about the uncertain food supply chain, it is vital to remember who the Source of provision truly is. There are actual concerns of famine in many parts of the world, as grains and oils normally shipped out of Ukraine, often known as Eastern Europe’s “breadbasket,” are not being sent because of the war with Russia. The greater concern is the spiritual famine that has overtaken the United States. Spiritual starvation has become common as people feed on the empty calories of humanism, socialism, materialism, health-and-wealth-ism, and any number of other isms. Jesus said that the Father knows your needs and to seek His kingdom first so that He may supply (Matthew 6:32-33). As you pray over the humanitarian needs of the nation and the world today, ask the Lord to draw the hearts of U.S. citizens and those in government to Him so that the sweetness of God’s word (Psalm 19:10) would be rediscovered by the people of America.
